A LITTLE THEN & NOW
Oct. 13, Chuck, Betty and I took off for Ruidoso to see Vince Gill at the Inn of the Mountain Gods. Since we had time, we did some sightseeing. I grew up at Carrizozo so the country used to be familiar to me. Not now!!
Ruidoso in the 50’s was a very small town. Very small! The last time I was there was '77 and it is so much more now than even then. But we did find the Waterwheel that I remembered.
These pics were then. The telescope is no longer there, but you could look down the valley ,etc.. for miles. The waterwheel is well taken of and looks pretty much the same.
These are now! I was so glad to see that they had preserved it. This next pic was from across the street back then. It’s no longer there.
Then we went out to the other end of town and found Fox Cave. Boy, I was really disappointed. You’ll see why!
Enough of memories!!
We had a wonderful lunch at Schlotzsky’s with dessert from across the room at TCBY.Umm,Umm, good!!
Then on to the Vince Gill Show. Sorry, no pics. He put on a great performance and is really a great entertainer. He had Gary Mule Deer open for him and this guy is on hellva Johnny Cash impersonator and comedian. Vince called him back out during HIS performance so to me that says a lot.
Next day , we headed home and on the way Chuck did a little geocaching. Think he got 3, not sure. Got home safely and back in the groove. LATER!!!!!

ATV/GEOCACHE
Sept. 10,2010, Chuck, Stu, my brother, Dillon, wife and wonderful sister-in-law,Jean, friend Bobbie and I took off from the house for a day of fun and relaxation.
This is some of us. Stu’s
ATV was not in running order so he took his truck along with Tiger. He, of course, beat us to the first stop, which was the slab on Green Leaf Mine
Road. Tiger was smarter than the rest of us. He found the shade.
Here the guys are cussin’ and discussin’ their GpS’s.
Then off we go to the first location on the GPS. We did three total and Dillon found his first.
We found a little shade and had our lunch. Then proceeded to come on back home and get under the cooler.

Wandering
This blogging is new to me, but here goes. We (my wonderful love,Chuck) and I took a small road trip to Glenwood, NM and around the loop to Reserve, Snow Lake, Willow creek, and Mogollon.
First, on the way , we stopped by Bill Evans Lake. This is a man made lake kept up by Phelps Dodge. I’ve been fishing and camping there several times thru the years.
This was quite a trip in many ways. First of all, at noon, in Glenwood, there was nowhere to eat!! So we continued on to Alma,
where we found one small cafe open. Good food, too!, but no motel. So we went on to Reserve, where we found a room, but no food. Again!!
We saw some beautiful country as we were geocacheing, also.
This was also very amusing as I had never seen anything like it! We did have delicious breakfast in Reserve and off we went to Snow Lake and Willow Creek. This is some really beautiful country and if you have not been there it’s worth going.
From here to Mogollon, an old mining town, very small and quaint. Believe me, I would not want to live there in the winter!!!
Back to Glenwood and the Catwalk. This place has changed quite a bit from when I first saw it. Back when it was a wood swinging catwalk! Too many floods washing it out and here it is today.
Back to the desert, which is home. Deming ,HERE WE COME!!
